Studying: FILM STUDIES at Queen Mary, London of University

To begin with, I met Simon in the 10th grade during a class at CN George Coşbuc with a former teacher of mine. He introduced my class mates and I to the possibility of studying abroad, in the UK and offered us the chance of taking part of the BUS workshop at the Carturesţi bookshop in Bucharest. The workshop experience broadened my horizons, as it was then when I realised that studying abroad and pursuing my dream at a higher level was achievable.

Choosing my subject, film studies, was relatively easy as I have always has a passion for both cinema and film making. However, deciding where to study it proved to be much harder due the large number of universities offering similar courses. After many hours spent on research, Simon helped me choose the 5 degree programmes that suited me best: UEA, York, Kent, QMUL, and Queen’s Belfast. 4 out of 5 offered me a conditional offer, and I took up QMUL’s offer as a Firm Choice and York’s as the Insurance Choice. The main reason for choosing London over the other places is that I felt a bigger city will have a much greater impact on me and my personal development.

I enjoyed working with Simon and what impressed me most was the professionalism and the promptitude he has shown in our numerous conversations. All the answers I received from him were very clear and helped me a lot making my decisions.
