What I have mostly appreciated throughout my entire collaboration with Albion was the fact that it opened my eyes.

Studying: MECHATRONIC ENGINEERING at Manchester University

So how did I end up in Manchester? It was a long journey! At the beginning of high-school I wanted to become a doctor… vaguely. By the time I finished the tenth grade I still had no clue what I wanted for my professional life but the medical school was definitely no longer an option.

Back to square number one but my parents helped turn my attention towards engineering. But what sort of engineer? Where? How? So many questions were nagging at me 18 months ago when we heard about Albion and were introduced to Simon.

I’m not going to pretend I was instantly enlightened 100%. What happened for sure though as soon as after the first counseling session all my “whys” and “when” and “where” fell into structure. My search became meaningful. The decision of what my professional life should be looking like was shaping with increased clarity; because Albion has not only provided me with a structured approach but has been constantly supporting and keeping me on the right track.

Through valuable and constant guidance from Albion my application was a huge success and I received the maximum number of five conditional offers from British Universities: Manchester, Liverpool, Bath, Leeds, and Lancaster. Why did I choose Manchester? Because it is a Russell Group University, because I liked what I saw when I visited it with my father and, to be honest, because I wanted to study in a city with a student population of over 70,000.

What I have mostly appreciated throughout my entire collaboration with Albion was the fact that it opened my eyes. I was unaware that (a) mechatronics existed as a degree subject, (b) that I could gain a year’s paid work experience while studying, (c) I could study for an integrated Masters degree, and (d) I could do all this at a prestigious and world famous university!
